How to Package Trading Cards for Postage
A step-by-step guide to sleeving, protecting and posting raw or graded trading cards safely in the UK.

Good packaging does four jobs: it protects the surface, limits bending, keeps moisture out and stops the card moving around. The protection should increase with the card's value and the size of the order.
Use a sensible protection stack
- Place a raw card in a clean penny sleeve.
- Add a rigid or semi-rigid holder that suits the card.
- Use a team bag or resealable sleeve to stop the card sliding out.
- Sandwich the protected card between firm cardboard where appropriate.
Prevent movement and moisture
Use an outer envelope or box that fits the protected card without crushing it. Fill excess space in parcels, and add a clean waterproof layer when the outer packaging is not weather resistant.
Adjust for bundles and slabs
Do not force several cards into one holder. Group sleeved cards securely and use a box for larger bundles. Graded slabs should be wrapped against scratches and cushioned so they cannot strike each other or the parcel walls.
Match delivery to the value
Use the marketplace's available delivery options and select tracking, compensation and insurance suitable for the order. Check the carrier's current terms and packaging requirements before dispatch, especially for expensive cards.
Keep evidence
Photograph the card and completed packaging, retain proof of dispatch and upload tracking promptly. This creates a clear record for the buyer, seller and marketplace.
