How to Value Pokemon Cards in the UK
A clear method for valuing Pokemon cards in pounds using exact matches, sold data, active listings, condition and delivered prices.

A useful valuation is a reasoned range, not a single number copied from the first search result. The goal is to find comparable cards and remove results that are not genuinely comparable.
Start with an exact match
- Card name and collector number
- Set and release
- Language and variant
- Raw condition or grading company and grade
- Single card rather than a bundle, proxy or digital item
Understand sold prices and asking prices
A verified completed sale shows what one buyer paid at a point in time. An active listing shows what a seller currently wants. Both are useful, but they answer different questions and should not be mixed without a label.
Clean the comparison set
Exclude lots, reprints, damaged copies, unrelated grades and listings where the searched card is only one option in a pick-your-own menu. A smaller clean sample is better than a large noisy one.
Compare delivered prices in pounds
Include delivery when comparing active listings. If results are in another currency, allow for conversion and the difference between UK and overseas demand. The median is often more robust than the mean because one extreme listing has less influence.
Present a range and its confidence
For a frequently traded card with close matches, the range can be narrow. For a scarce card with few matches, show a wider range and explain the limited evidence. Card condition can still move the final price outside a guide range.
